Marcia Zenk is the sister of my dear late friend David Van Strien, which I knew for 44 years. 
Marcia and Bob, please accept our condolences with the passing of your beloved grandson. Undoubtedly he will be greatly missed by everyone, who loved Michael so much.

Me and Michael grew up on the northeast side of Grand Rapids on Hollywood Street. We were young playing Call of Duty World at War and Modern Warfare 2. For fun we would go play tag, running the streets to the park and buying ginger ale, Kool-Aid, and Reese's to Hype each other up for the activities that were to come. Then we ended up growing a little bit older and Michael went away and I went away until about high school. The awesome thing is we always left off where we once were, and didn't fight as friends because we always had each other's backs. We were very in-depth friends that could talk about anything. Me and Mike were hanging out here and there when I came back up north and he told me all his personal issues going on, and what his salvation was, and what his dreams were. And his answer as a man was he would do anything for his daughter. 
His reason for joining the Army was that he wanted people like me to be able to enjoy life here in the US. We appreciate everyone for sharing their condolence. 

I'm sorry Nicole, Jadeleigh, Brooke, and Jack for the loss, he was my best friend that could help anyone he cared about but family had always come first. 
Rest in Peace Mike you were like a brother to me

As I sit here and wait to go to the funeral home to say my last goodbyes to you. I think about you my brother. How much I already miss you and how much I wish you were walking through the door again. I know you loved me and I know you knew I loved you. As always as I would always say  “I have your back. No matter what. “ Jadeleigh will know your heart and she will know she is loved.

I knew you as a small boy, a good friend of Jack and David. I saw the love that was between you as little ones and I wished the world had such love. As days went by I lost touch with you but Jack never went away and in all troubles Jack really wanted you guys to be happy the same way you used to be. David was away for a while and when he came home all Jack wanted was to bring him back to the same good childhood friends that he had because you guys cared about him. Your BMW was always parked in front of my house. David told me that the car belongs to Mike and when I saw your face, you reminded me that you were the same little friend of Jack and David many years ago. Your respect, kindness, and caring heart became a loving path for David. You and Jack will remain my sons forever. Thank you for reminding David that you guys still love him. May the Lord rest your soul in peace and may He give peace to your loving daughter, mama, and all your siblings and dad. We will miss you. Thank you for having that kindness that only comes from the Lord. You showed kindness and love to the world. You have left us wondering what we can do to be like you and make this world a better place for all. The chicken nuggets and red lemonade will not stop. We will always visit your mom and thank God for your humbleness that brought us together. We love you, Mike.  Hold a place for us in Heaven till we meet again. May the Lord be with you.

Mike, was someone I can truly say I loved and I can’t say that about many people. He made me so happy, he made me truly forget about all my problems and on top of that managed to make me feel like I was  really worth something. He was so special to me I loved it when he smiled he had the biggest and brightest smile and his eyes his eyes where so beautiful and full of life. The many laughs we shared together are memorable. He was so funny and goofy in all the right ways . My heart goes out to those of his family and friends. I’m so sorry this angle was taken so soon. Mike, is someone who will live on in my heart forever. I love you mike.

I’m so lucky to have known you. We just got back in touch in the last few months, and I was so excited because I haven’t heard from you in years! I was so excited to hear from one of my old best friends. I was even more excited when I saw you became a dad!! Hearing about your passing felt like such a punch in the gut. One punch because now I’ll never get to talk to you again, and another because all I could think about was your beautiful daughter. She’s so lucky to have you as her dad.

Mikey Eastwood was like my brother pretty much becoming a father figure to me. He was there when no one else could be for me. Always checking in on me wether through text or coming to pick me up or vis versa. He was teaching me to become a man. Always telling me stories of his life and teaching me things to better my life. I will never forget Mike E. I had gotten much closer to Mike these last months when him and my brother, Caleb, couldn’t hang out. He thought why not hang with the next best thing, his little brother. I still hear his laugh and little sayings. Everytime i see his favorite candy in the store it makes me smile.  Images keep racing that i had of Mike and I going to parks and working, him wanting to teach me the way of the sword, him doing one hand pushups! And most of all watching him take care of his daughter before anyone else. I remember going into stores with Mike taking road trips to grand haven with Mike literally doing everything with Mike. The only person i’d spend my time with because he was more than worth it. I love you Mikeyeastwood ❤️

Michael and my Son were very close growing up and Michael was treated like another one of my kids in our household.  You and Nathan were thick as thieves, and always having fun playing video games, swimming, riding bikes all over the neighborhood, playing hockey and who knows what other things they got themselves into.  I am heartbroken to hear of your passing Michael but just know you were loved by so many people including our family.   The Donis Family send our deepest condolences to your family.
