Mitchell Zainea

Mitchell "Mr. Z" Zainea aged 69, of Grand Rapids went to be with his Lord on July 26, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents Mitri M. Zainea Sr. and Georgette Zainea and his brother Paul Zainea. Mitch will be lovingly remembered by his wife Catherine, children; Michelle Zainea, Eugene (Lisa) Zainea, Annette McKnight-Zainea, Dan Zainea, Sue (Mike) Caswell, step-children; Dawn (Rob) Dewey, Sherry Bodary, 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Sam (Margaret) Zainea, Moses (Francine) Zainea, Mitri Zainea Jr, George Zainea of San Diego, CA, Rose (Chuck) Wieten and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mitch was a teacher for 33 years in the Grand Rapids Public Schools. He was a person that got involved and loved to volunteer his time. He was a dedicated 39 year member of The Travelers Protective Association of America, holding many different Post and State positions including State President. Mitch was active in The Knights of Columbus Council 3104 again working in many capacities including Grand Knight. He worked on the corporation board to help the council and its members with the best possible leadership. A Memorial Mass will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at St Jude Catholic Church 1120 4 Mile Rd NE with Rev Thomas Page as celebrant. Friends may greet Mitch’s family from 12:00 till the time of Mass at St Jude Church upstairs in the Brophy Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
