

Nita Florence Bruckman, aged 97, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord, on July 30, 2013. She was reunited with her husband of 50 years, William who preceded her in death in 1987. She was also preceded by her sons-in-law, Thomas Barnes, and Rhett Johnston. Surviving are children; Donald (Catherine) Bruckman, Janet Barnes, Bernice Johnston, William (Debra) Bruckman Jr., grandchildren; Robert (Barbara) Bruckman, John Bruckman, Bernice Munk, Katie (Chuck) Dupuis, Mary (John) Quintal, Thomas Barnes, Amy (Chris) Knape, Kevin (Anna) Johnston, Katherine (Paul) Hegele, Elizabeth (Jeff) Bauer, Andrew Bruckman, Melissa Bruckman, eighteen great-grandchildren, her sister Virginia Loomis, step-grandsons; Steven (Pam) Hume, Bradley (Deb) Hume, Craig (Amy) Hume, David Hume, six step-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Nita was born in Toledo, Ohio to Albert and Permelia Lenz, but was raised in Owosso, Michigan. Eventually settling in Grand Rapids, she was parishioner of St. Alphonsus for over 68 years, and a member of the Holy Family. She was very active with St. Alphonsus School, a very active group leader and recipient of the St Ann’s Award for her work with the Junior Catholic Daughters of America, and was Past Grand State Regent of Catholic Daughters of America. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11am on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at St. Alphonsus Parish (224 Carrier St NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan) with Rev. Lamar Partin C.Ss.R. as celebrant. Please join her family on Friday, August 2, 2013 at Reyers North Valley Chapel for visitation from 4-8pm with the Rosary at 7pm One hour additional visitation will be held at the church prior to mass from 10-11am on Saturday.
