

Norman "Norm" George Merrow, age 93, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Norm was born on April 28, 1930 to John and Bertha Merrow in a small town in Lower Salem, Ohio.
Norm was one of nine children. He started his working career younger than most, but he did not let that interfere with his school work, as he graduated from high school and went to attend a business college. He went on to work for many years as an insurance agent. Norm proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1958. He married his love, Teressa Thorne, and the couple spent 71 wonderful years together. Norm was a gifted craftsman and loved woodworking. He was a member of the Wyoming Senior Center Wood Carvers Club and the Northview Senior Center Wood Carvers Club. He also enjoyed collecting all-american tools, fishing, hunting, photography, traveling, meeting people, wildlife (especially squirrels), baking pies and giving them away, helping others, and spending time with his family. He was always active in his faith and was re-baptized in 2014. Then becoming a member of New Community Church of Grand Rapids where he had been a parishioner for the last 9 years. Norm will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Norm was preceded in death by: parents, John and Bertha Merrow; and siblings, Jennie, Stanley, Etola, Virginia, Kermit, and John Jr.
Norm is survived by: loving wife, Teressa Merrow; son, Clifton (Linde) Merrow; granddaughter, Kaitlyn (Rocky) Howard; step-great grandchild, Forest Howard; and brothers, Oscar Merrow and Clyde Merrow.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00am. The family will welcome guests one hour prior to the start of service. All services will be held at New Community Church, 2340 Dean Lake Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. A luncheon will be provided at the church following services.
Norm will be laid to rest at Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery.
