Roberta Ann Lorenz

Roberta Ann Lorenz, born May 6, 1927, the fourth child of Herman and Tena Berkel, was carried into Heaven by her Lord and Savior on May 4, 2014 to join both of her parents, her sisters, Viola and Ruth, brothers Kenneth, Richard and Charles, and the love of her life Eldon Lorenz. Roberta will be dearly missed by her children, Bob and Shelley Proos, Renee Lorenz, Cindy Lorenz and Jeff Kelly, Jack and Jeanne Lorenz, and Melinda and Joe Rogers; by her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as Mame, Michael, Matthew and Rachel Proos, Tyler Metzger, Steven, Jaclyn and Kristopher Lorenz and Alex and Eli Rogers; and four great grandchildren, who called her Glamma. Roberta will be missed by her sister, Hazel Whittaker, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Roberta grew up in Muskegon, Michigan, loving the lakeshore throughout her lifetime. She and Eldon married on November 26, 1947 and settled in Grand Rapids to raise their family. Roberta loved being a mother, but she also loved to entertain. She was a fabulous cook and family and friends greatly enjoyed their time at Roberta’s. She made every place she lived into a welcoming home, radiating her warmth and grace. Roberta loved style – she was always dressed to the nines – the perfect lady. She modeled for many charitable fashion shows into her early 80’s. Roberta’s infamous smile reflected her giving and generous heart. Always ready to enjoy life – her love; her laughter – she will live in our hearts for always. Please join the family for visitation on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 3-5 and 7-9pm at Reyers North Valley Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 9, 2014 at New Community Church (2340 Dean Lake Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505).
