

Roger Donald Chapel, aged 85, passed away on May 6, 2015 in Union, South Carolina. Roger was born in Grand Rapids in January of 1930 to the late Joseph and Alice Chapel. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Hazel (Bruce) Besmer, Arlene (Lee) Chapel, his infant brother Boyd Edward Chapel, infant children Denise and Daniel and great-grandson Wyatt. He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years Bertie, daughters; Peggy (Tim) Didion, and Diane Chapel, grandchildren; Brandon (Sarah) Didion, Amanda (Russell) Poll, Aaron (Courtney) Didion, great-grandchildren; Brooke, Tyler, Remington, Madelyn as well as many friends and extended family. Roger honorably served his country with the United States Air Force and was discharged in December of 1952. He worked as a foreman in Tool & Die for General Motors, and he was an avid sportsman and member of the Creston Rod & Gun Club for many years. Roger enjoyed hunting and fishing, and instilled in his family an appreciation for nature. He will be remembered as a kind man. Please join his family on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 for visitation at Reyers North Valley Chapel from 5-8pm. Additional visitation on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 10-11am will be followed by Funeral Services at 11am at the funeral home. Interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
