Roy Lee Batson “Uncle Roy” aged 86, of Grand Rapids was called home to his Lord on June 28, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 2 sisters. Roy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years Opal, sister Mary Williams, brothers Paul and Douglas Batson, sister-in-law Thelma Innis, nephews John (Terry) Innis, Jim (Kerry) Innis and many other loving nieces, nephews and family members. Roy grew up on a farm in Georgia. He was a very hard working person that loved his church and family. Roy was a charter member of Northland Baptist Church and was a Deacon for many years. He loved to garden and fish in his free time and will always be remembered for his hand shake. Services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Northland Baptist Church 4162 Hunsberger Ave NE Grand Rapids, MI 49525. Friends and relatives may greet Roy’s family on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Reyers North Valley Chapel 2815 Fuller Ave NE and one hour prior to the service at church. The family asks that in lieu of flowers people consider donations to Northland Baptist Special Fund or a Charity of One’s Choice.
