Sandra “Sandy” Lynn Taylor, 65, moved to her heavenly home on the morning of May 16, 2024. She had struggled with the deterioration from ministrokes for about nine years. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Mark; longtime friend and caregiver, Dianne Janes; brothers, Tim (Danell) Curneal, Mark Curneal, and Daniel Curneal; sisters, Shari (Joe) Fisher, and Stacy (Bill) Ordakowski; and brother and sister in-law, John and Dianna Taylor. She will also be greatly missed by nieces and nephews: Adam, Matthew, Stephen, Haley, Heather, Erin, Joshua, Joey, Emily, Chelsea, Brianna, Nathanael, and Faith.
Sandy was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on November 15, 1958, to Donna and Gerald Curneal. She grew up in Detroit and graduated from Osborn High School. She and Mark were married on Dec. 27, 1980.
Music was a very important part of her life. She sang in various church choirs, with a touring musical group representing Detroit Youth for Christ called “Sonlife,” and community choirs - including The Metropolitan Choir of Praise. She sang solos and duets with her father and with her husband, Mark.
She held multiple secretary and receptionist jobs in schools, churches, medical offices, and businesses. She loved assisting her husband with his work in schools and churches-people commented that they were a great team. She loved working with children as a children’s choir director, a teacher in Pioneer and Awana clubs, and as a babysitter. She also volunteered as a Stephen’s Minister in two churches.
Her relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was paramount in her life. She wanted the “spectacular light of Jesus and His faithful and constant love” to leak out of herself attracting others “to the hope of Jesus and into a relationship with Father God.” Hence, she impacted people powerfully everywhere she went with her strong faith and hopefulness, winsome friendliness, beautiful sparkling smile, great compassion, and wise counsel forged through significant physical challenges and stressful situations- including five miscarriages, blindness, and ministrokes. She lived out the mission expressed by her life Scripture verse:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
