WOLTERS (BENTLEY) – Sharon Louise Wolters, age 79, of Jenison, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020, in Grandville, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael E. Wolters on January 11, 2012. She is survived by her eight children: Rick (Jill) Winkler of Wyoming, Paul Winkler of Saranac, Dave (Beth) Winkler of Caledonia, Laurie (Wynn) Cull of Grandville, Nikki Nevins of Jenison, Sherri (James) Vernon of Phoenix, Jonathon Million of Muskegon, and Taylor Wolters of Grand Rapids; grandchildren: Lindsey (Tony), Stacey, Kayleigh, Rose (Casey), Samantha, Tony, Jonathon, Chad, Morgan, Riley, Dominik, McKenzie, Isabelle, and Desmond; great grandchildren: Relling, Benjamin, Charlotte, Sophia, Madelyn, Harrison, Larkin, and Drayce, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Sharon was the youngest of 12 children (Elmo, Budd, Fred, Chuck, Edith, Beulah, Joyce, Roy, Mike, Edna, Ron) born to James Arthur Bentley and Edna Rose Bentley Wilson (Reynolds) in Grand Rapids, MI. Sharon always said she was a tom boy as a young girl and could beat up any kid on the block! As a young woman, she played softball and bowled in Roadrunner leagues and performed with The Spotlight Players theater group. She enjoyed playing her guitar and singing and loved the weekends she spent with her husband Mike, kids, and grandkids camping at Blue Lake. Bonfires were her happy place! She was a skilled card player and excelled at set back, cribbage, euchre, and penny ante poker. Everyone wanted to be her partner! She was a baker at D&W and received accolades for making the best croissants, but she was even more famous for her fudge. It was her tradition to make fudge for all of her children and grandchildren for their birthdays. She was also an amazing artist and loved doing creative projects with her kids and grandkids. She stayed very busy through the years raising her children and welcomed all of the neighborhood children as well. She was lovingly called Mom by many.
In her last years, Sharon moved to Sunset Manor in Jenison in independent living, where she made some special friends and enjoyed new activities, especially making bracelets. She gave them to everyone.
Sharon was the last of her siblings to go home. It was her belief in God, as her loving heavenly Father, that sustained her and brought her much peace through the years. She looked forward to a joyous reunion with all of her beloved family members, including great granddaughter Aiyana and dear friends that passed before her. She was a sweet, gentle soul who will be dearly missed. Due to covid-19, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to Faith Hospice.
