Shirley was a 1980 graduate of Forest Hills Northern High School. She went on to learn medical transcription, and worked in that field for many years. Her true passion was for special education. She had a change in career and became a paraprofessional for Negaunee Public Schools working in special education. She adored her students and they loved her just the same. She was also a coach for the special olympics in Negaunee and a scout leader for her local boy scout troop. She was very involved in all the local sports groups. She would participate in anything from horseshoes to softball. Shirley loved to be outdoors. She would spend all of her free time hiking, kayaking, swimming in Lake Superior, biking, and camping. When she was not outside, you could find her scrapbooking or with her church's bell choir. Shirley was strong in her faith and was a very active member of Wesley United Methodist Church for 20 years. Her giving nature and warm spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
