Shirley W. Schmitt, aged 85 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 2, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin L. Schmitt, and 2 grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Thomas and Sharon Schmitt, Maribeth Schmitt, Karen and Paul Burd, Matthew and Maria Schmitt, Mark and Donna Schmitt. Her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Leah, Travis, Camden, Louis and Stephanie, Julia, Jennifer, Jacob, Malia, Rachel, and Rebecca; great grandchildren, Emily, Jada, Natalie, many nieces and nephews. Funeral and committal services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Reyers North Valley Chapel Rev. Aaron Werner officiating. Entombment in Chapel Hill Mausoleum.
