If I haven't said so before, I do have wonderful memories of Sid, starting with his visiting Doris and continuing with a trip to Denver with them and baby Carol. My leg was in a cast. When we stopped to visit medical student friends of Sid in Omaha, they covered the indelible ink bones the doctor had drawn on the cast with additional plaster.  
I remember many visits to their home, especially during my college days and how impressed I was to see that everyone had a bicycle! There was a sincere love of the Lord Jesus in that home and it reflected into service too. Now he is with Jesus and has seen him!

My love to all of my Patten cousins. Like Marilyn, I just found out about this site. I too have many wonderful memories of Sid and the whole family. As a small child I used to hope and pray on Sundys that I might be invited to their house for Sunday dinner. It was always such a happy place. Sid was a man who always listened, and what he said always had weight (and a lot of humor!).

To my Patten Cousins, I am sorry I did not find this site sooner.  I have such wonderful memories of your dad, and I think I was envious of you because you always seemed to me to be such a happy and loving family (at the time I didn't think my own family was).  I especially remember the wiener roasts on summer Saturday evenings, down by Scott Lake.  Your father was truly a man of gentleness, humor and integrity, and I was blessed to have him in my life.

 My love and sympathy to all of my Patten cousins, and to Fran whom I hope to meet some day. I’d like to share a few of my memories:
 The very youngest of Doris’s admiring first-cousins, I noticed how her hat brim turned her sweet face into a  valentine. And when she found HER true valentine, I recall my parents making approving remarks about Doris’s new husband and the Christian home they set up. 
 When I was in my pre-teens Sid asked my father (Uncle Will) if I could stay with Carol and Nancy at the time of Barbara’s birth. Very flattered, I considered myself responsible for all housecleaning and cooking as well, but was ever so grateful when Sid gave me a hand. I have a distinct memory of him mopping the kitchen floor at Cedar Street! (I had never seen a man mop before and it seemed especially thoughtful of him.)
 When I attended Western, the house on Cedar Street was my weekend home whenever I could not make it all the way to Reeman. I, too, enjoyed the Christian atmosphere that others have mentioned.
 I saw Sid most recently when Nancy and Dan invited Leon and me to their house during Sid’s visit. I am grateful I had that opportunity to tell him that he had given me such good memories.

What a blessing Uncle Sid was to so many people! He and Aunt Doris were the epidomy of warmth and hospitality. I had the privelege of staying with them when I was 18 yrs old and I can still remember the homey smell and hear the ticking of the grandfather clock on Cedar St. Uncle Sid's quick wit always had me laughing. (he enjoyed his own jokes too!=) He liked to laugh. Always cheerful and bright. It's been 20 years since I saw him, but from looking at the wonderful pictures posted, he seems to have gotten younger! His spiritual wisdom and kindness is so valued. What a blessed legacy to leave.

sidney  patten was a sweetest most loving caring christen man .every one loved him dorise patten was too the most loving caring wife to sid patten they our both the best he was like a dad to me and my 2 sons and dorise a mom to us as well they were both loved we will miss them both so bad .sid and doise well your up in haven now with my mom  and dad and ill see ya when i get there   god bless ya and with all your living ones sons grand children  act  sorry about your loving parents  and may god bless ya all.keep you all    in my pryers  . karen and boys.   i cant say good bye ill see ya both in haven ,

Prayers and Love to all the family members of my Uncle Sid! I think on his gentle, calm, & steady manner and smile. We read here about his love for the one true God, sweet nature and steady resolve of faith, we can only just nod in agreement...We know this is indeed true first hand and because now his children mirror his path. I was blessed to hear him preach from the time of my birth and I enjoyed many nights listening to him and Aunt Doris on Cedar st put forth the Christlike atmosphere with laughter and care. He has had more impact on my life than he ever knew.  He will be greatly missed. LOVE you all Pattens very much and we wish we could be there this weekend. Hugs,

Dear Cousins,
My heart goes out to each of you in your personal grief. I too have lost a beloved father and two wonderful husbands, but only for a short time. "Now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed."  I have great memories, including a trip to Colorado in about 1948 when Carol was a baby.  Visits to your home on Cedar Street and a visit from them here in California.

Mr. Patten will be truly missed! He helped me out in my time of need and he was a wonderful man of God, that I looked up to.  I'm sad at this time, but I know he is rejoicing with his Lord and Savior. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Uncle Sid has a special place in our hearts.  A true man of God.  I loved his sense of humor...(I can hear his wonderful laugh)and his encouraging words.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you gather together this week.  How wonderful to know that we will all see him again in glory.  "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints"  Psalm 116:15

   Our sympathy to the family of Sid Patten . He was a dear friend and brother in the Lord.  If there was a job to be done or a spot to be filled, Sid was available. He was a kind and loving brother and will be greatly missed in the circle of Christian fellowship. May the Lord grant special comfort to Fran and the family at this time.

Our prayers and sympathy are with all the Pattens this weekend as you say farewell to you beloved Dad. He is with the Lord.

I've heard someone say who worked with Sid in the shipping department at Keeler Brass that he was a "man of integrity". 
My prayers go out for the Patten family in this time of great loss.
