Thressa Jean Slabbekoorn

Thressa was member of New Community Church of Grand Rapids for over 30 years where she lead the Grief Share program. She was also a nurse for 35 years at Ferguson Hospital. She was a true homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, reading, and baking. She loved spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thressa was a loving and caring women who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Thressa was preceded in death by: husbands, Marvin Beuker, John Groot, and Harold Slabbekoorn; son, Robert Henry Beuker; grandson, Robert Thomas Beuker; and brothers, Henry Koning, and Martin Koning.

Thressa is survived by: children, Joyce (Jim) Wiltjer, Thomas (Peggy) Beuker, and Kristy (Joel) Thomasma; grandchildren, Kelly (Aaron) Schab, Katie (Jeremy) Lotterman, Daniel (Ashley) Beuker, Andrew (Amy) Beuker, Amanda (Reid) Wagner, and Eric VanSpronsen; great grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan, Jackson, Lilian, Emma, Benson, and Easton; and sister, Etta VandeKopple.

A memorial service, officiated by Pastor Lew VanderMeer, will take place on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 12:00pm. Services will be held at New Community Church of Grand Rapids, 2340 Dean Lake Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will take place at Rest Lawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Community Church.
