Virginia Helen Austin

Virginia was born on October 12, 1934 to Frank and Jennie (Pesta) Centka in Plymouth, Pennsylvania.

She loved to garden and read. She loved her family and was deeply committed to serving the Lord. She enjoyed golf cart rides with her family and always had a special place in her heart for her many fur babies. When the weather was nice she loved sitting on her patio swing reading a book as she enjoyed the outdoor nature.

On December 9, 1974 she married her first husband Leonard V Butterfield. She married Don E. Austin on February 16, 2009. Professionally, Virginia was a nursing assistant and eventually retired from the VA of Grand Rapids.

She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Jennie; Sister Dolores M. Centka; Brother Albert Centka; husband Leonard Butterfield; and husband Don Austin.

She is survived by her children Mark (Ricci) Hill, April Jaggers, and Suzanne Austin; grandson Austin Hill; and many other friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday January 23rd, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 2275 Diamond Avenue NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505. Visitation will be from 11:30-12 at the Church. Virginia will be laid to rest at Fairplains cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Guide Dogs of America or to St. Jude's Hospital.
