

William L. Valentine, age 70, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Mercy Health, Saint Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids MI surrounded by his family. He was born at Butterworth Hospital in August of 1946 to the late Richard Edgar and Mariunette (Thompson) Valentine and was the younger of two children. Bill grew up in Grand Rapids, graduating from South High School in 1966. After graduation he joined the United States Army. He served two tours overseas, mainly in Berlin, Germany. He became an expert marksman in rifle and pistol. He had the loudest voice for commands and for cadence. He loved "his" country and flag. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. After serving his country he came home to marry Jacqueline Marie Bergman on April 14, 1973. Together they had three kids which were their pride and joy. Bill loved his family and being together with them. We were his whole life and world. His interests were motorcycles, cars, drawing, painting, building and fixing things by hand, watching movies, camping, and had a big love for his 1964 Ford Falcon and Detroit Lions football. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Jackie; kids; William Jr., Candace (Isaac) and Sheena (Rick); 5 grandchildren, Tyler, Noah, Alex, Addilyn, Kelsie; his sister Shirley, nephew Tim and niece Terri. Funeral services will be held at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Thursday, April 27, 2017 with visitation at 10am and service at 11am.
