

Ysbrand “Ike” Dykhouse, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2013, while surrounded by his loving family. He will be deeply missed by his children Ursula (Derek) Mackey-Dykhouse of Brownsburg IN, Wayne (Susan) Dykhouse of Grand Rapids, Denise (Dwayne) Dykhouse of Chico CA, and Craig (Louise) Dykhouse of Grand Rapids; grandchildren Charlie (Jackie) Dykhouse, Scott (Amy) Dykhouse, Jennifer (Collins) Dykhouse, Danny Dykhouse, and Jessica Dykhouse; great-grandchildren Lance Dykhouse, Logan Dykhouse, and Liliana Dykhouse; siblings Barney (Donna) Dykhouse, and Martha Blackwell; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Lorraine T. Dykhouse; siblings Bernice (Paul) Doty, Stella (Don) Wiersma, Ally (Bud) Baker, Emma (Chet) Schulte, John (Marion) Dykhouse, Jenny (Ben) Kooi, and Freda (Henry) Stufzand; and sister-in-laws Rosemarie (George) Hollenbeck and May (Donald) King. Ike courageously served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Kalin in Bay “CVE-68”. He received two presidential unit citations for his service as a member of “taffy-3”. The family will be greeting friends on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, from 3:00-5:00 PM at Reyers North Valley Chapel; 2815 Fuller Ave. NE, Grand Rapids MI 49505. The service to celebrate Ike’s life will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Reyers North Valley Chapel. Contributions in Ike’s memory may be made to Friends of the Michigan Veterans Home.
