Barbara Jean Workman of Grandview, Missouri passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022. Barbara was born December 17, 1945 in Mulhall, Oklahoma to John and Alma (Baker) Donnell. Barbara was the oldest of their five children and was graduated from the Lansing High School in Lansing, Kansas.
Barbara and her first husband, David Garr, had three children, Shelly Payne, Greg Garr and Robert Garr.
In 1993, some time after her divorce from David, Barbara met Dean Workman while waiting to be seated in a restaurant. To avoid their waits, the two decided to go to a different restaurant and the rest was history. Barbara and Dean were married May 11, 2002 and enjoyed many activities together in the following (almost) twenty years. Some favorite memories include fishing trips to Bennett Springs State Park and eating breakfasts in the lodge therewith the hummingbirds flying nearby. Barbara's career as a bookkeeper in the construction industry earned her a solid reputation in that industry. She was also a volunteer firefighter with the Bonner Springs, Kansas Fire Department. Barbara and Dean raised and trained Labrador Retriever hunting dogs. And, of course, there was her flower gardens that she would tend with great care.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers-in-law Eugene Saving and Bud Moran.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dean Workman, who will miss her dearly; her children Shelly, Greg and Robert; grandson David and nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a good person, friend to many, sister, mother, wife and companion. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all.
A visitation for Barbara will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at McGilley & George Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 12913 Grandview Road, Grandview, MO 64030, followed by a memorial service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
