Jerry Malone was born August 2, 1942, in Camdenton, Missouri to Roscoe and Addie (Hammer) Malone. Following his high school graduation in 1960, he joined the United States Air Force. Jerry was stationed in Alaska for four years, shortly after it became a state. He returned from service to Kansas City in 1964 where he flourished in his career, his family and his faith.
Jerry worked for General Motors for 30 years until his retirement and was a member of the American Legion. When he wasn’t working, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with Sandi, his wife of 51 years. He loved doing things with his hands, spending time outdoors, completing crosswords and playing Scrabble. He was an avid bowler and did so with his family and in numerous leagues throughout his life, earning multiple achievements, including his 300 ring.
A member of First Baptist Church of Grandview for 36 years, Jerry had a profound faith in the Lord and enjoyed praising Him in song. He favored many of the older gospel hymns and country music he had grown up with and could often be heard singing as he went about his daily life. He enjoyed watching deer, turkey and other abundant wildlife on the scenic property he shared with Sandi.
Jerry passed peacefully at home in the early morning hours of November 4, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Steve Malone and was the last of his five siblings - Ruth, Bill, Louise, Judy, and Barbara - to meet Jesus. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandi and his sons and daughters in law Jeff and Michele Malone, Andy and Olivia Malone, his daughter in law Tammy Baker and his eight grandchildren - Maddie, Jackson, Ellis, Hunter, Jeremy, Sara, Mason and Justice - along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6-8pm on Friday, November 10, at First Baptist Church of Grandview. His Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30am Saturday, November 11, at First Baptist Church of Grandview and will be streamed on the church website, firstbaptistgrandview.org (click Livestream)
