

Nancy Roan Parker, 88 of Kansas City, MO passed away April 25, 2011 at Timberlake Care Center. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 1 at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd., Kansas City, MO. Visitation 1- 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 2 in Forest Hill Cemetery Kansas City, MO. Contributions suggested to K.C. Hospice. Nancy was born November 1, 1922 in Springfield, MO to Clarence and Opal Mitchell. She was a lifelong area resident. Nancy helped unionize and retired from the Kansas City Star. She was a licensed beautician, accomplished dancer and loved arts and crafts. Nancy was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George P. Parker; daughter, Opal M. Gates; three sisters, Retha Mitchell, Alzenia Turner and Clementine Fields. Survived by daughter, Velma Cooper Belton, MO; grandchildren, Lonnice Locke, LeRoy Cooper, Jr., Leon Gates, Jr., Anthony Cooper, Toni Gates and Shawn Cooper-Thompson; great grandchildren, Adrian Cooper, Brandy Cooper, Leah Cooper, Brian Cooper, Branden Cooper, Kelly Cooper, Eliana Thompson, Caelan Thompson, Ambria Thompson and Sophia Grantham; great great grandchildren, Mark-Anthony Cooper and McKenzie Cooper.
