Ronald Keith Decker, 89 years old, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on November 5, 2023. Ronald was born in Boonville, Missouri on October 5, 1934. He attended school in Jamestown, Missouri. On November 1, 1952, he married Shirley Kirchner of California, Missouri. They moved to Kansas City in 1957. Throughout their 71 years together they took great joy in their family of seven children: Debra Ward, Rick (Mary Ruth), Vicky Hille (Tim), Sandy Smith (Jim), Brenda Reynolds, Jerry (Michelle), Kelly Travis (Phil), 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
For nearly 40 years, Ron worked in supervision in blow molding plastic manufacturing for ETHYL-IMCO Containers, EMPIRE Containers and Mar-Kay Plastics. He retired in 1996. Camping, boating and fishing were his lifelong hobbies. Wonderful memories and relationships with countless friends and families were made throughout the years. He cherished these relationships dearly and thought of them as his "lake family."
He has one surviving sister, Shirley Cooley of Claycomo, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Ronald Keith Jr., parents, Atha and Edna Decker (Williams), brothers William "Bill" Decker and Vernon Decker.
A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm-3:00 pm Friday, November 10 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church 5901 E. 135th St., Grandview, MO 64030. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ronald Decker may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
