

Wayne A. Simmons, 78, of Grandview, Mo., passed away Nov. 10, 2011, after a courageous battle with Kidney disease. Visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at McGilley & George Funeral Home in Grandview. Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at Dent County Mortuary, 103 W. Center St., Salem, Mo. Funeral services 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home in Salem. Burial in Greely Cemetery, Bunker, Mo. Contributions suggested to KC Hospice. Wayne was born July 23, 1933, to Carol and Daisy Blankenship Simmons. He was an Army Korean Veteran and a medic in Ft. Riley. Wayne was a member of Victory Baptist on Blue Ridge in KCMO. He pastored numerous churches in Missouri and Kansas. After retirement he was a custodian at Grandview High School, Butcher-Green Elementary, Blue Valley and Food Service at Ray-Pec. Wayne's hobby was his children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold Simmons. Survived by wife of 56 years, Evon; daughters, Terry and Kurt Stretch, Mattoon Ill., Linda and Mike Wilkerson, Kansas City Mo., and Angela and Gary Donald, Archie Mo.; sister, Naomi and Sterling Sullivan, Kinmundy Ill.; grandchildren, Kris and Chad Graves, Becky and Chad Potter, Brandon Stretch, Philip Wilkerson, Kaylie Hester, Jacob Hester and Justin Donald.
