

Rev. Allan Jongsma, age 90 of Jenison, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and entered into the glorious presence of his Lord February 2, 2024. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Joyce; as well as his children Dan (Gloria) Jongsma, Scott (Linda) Jongsma, Brenda (Jon) Holesinger, Lynda (Kevin) Kiekover; 13 grandchildren Michelle (Rick) Arthur, Lisa Jongsma, Julie (Luke) Augspurger, Rebecca (Bryan) Hoekstra, Joshua (Lauren), and Samuel Jongsma, Emily, Andrew (Sarah), Erica, Annie Holesinger, Brandon, Alyssa, Alexis Kiekover; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Harold and Bob; and a sister, Grace Nyenhuis.
Allan was born in Whitinsville, MA and moved to Grand Rapids to attend Calvin College. After completing his education at Calvin Theological Seminary in 1958, Allan served Christian Reformed churches in Vogel Center, MI; Jenison, MI; Midland Park, NJ; Wyoming, MI; DeMotte, IN; Kalamazoo, MI; and Bauer, MI. Rev. Jongsma was known for his passionate preaching, pastoral heart, and skillful administration. He also served his denomination in various capacities over the years, as well as serving as Bible study leader and volunteer at the conference grounds for over a decade. Allan prioritized kindness and joy and radiated these virtues through good times and difficult times. He loved card playing, camping, watching sports, and eating desserts (especially ice cream). He was devoted to his family and enjoyed deep friendships with many others.
Visitation with relatives and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Cook Funeral Home (West Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. A celebration of Allan’s life will commence 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2024 with visitation one hour prior at LaGrave Avenue CRC, 107 LaGrave Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Pastor Chad Boorsma will be officiating. Interment will take place at Winchester Cemetery. In honor of Allan, contributions may be made to the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds.
