To all the Rusticus family,
 My husband, Mike, daughter, Dianna and I all had the pleasure of working with Andy when he started working at Carter Lumber when he was 16 years old. He was always there with a smile on his face and worked SO hard. Everyone loved him!!! Once,while he was in college, we were flying out of Chicago airport and he offered to come get our van, park it at his apartment and keep it to save us $ in parking. He dropped it back off the day we arrived back. That is just a small example of the caring, giving person we worked with. God bless you all during this difficult time. Andy is truly a very special person and we are all better people for having known him.

I thought I would share some of my favorite memories of Andy, for you, Michelle. I remember when he first met you, he was so excited. He wanted to cook you dinner one night, so he asked me to teach him how to make something. And let me tell you, the entire time he was talking about you. And watching him with you ever since then, you were truly the love of his life. In high school we would go out and he would try to get people to pull over for him by flashing his head lights and pretending to be an officer - makes me smile just remembering it. He even got someone to pull over for him - that just made his day. And watching Andy with Baylee - I have never seen a dad so in love with his daughter. Teaching her to bow - who would do that? Of course Andy would. What a wonderful husband, father, and friend. I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for strength and for God to hold you so tightly in the days and weeks and months to come.

So very sorry for this untimely loss. We will miss Andy on the Dorr CRC council, where he was a towering strength and always took on more than his share of responsibilities. And we'll miss him at the Back Room Bible Study, where Andy often talked about his family and spoke from the heart about spiritual manners. Andy was truly an outstanding young man.

My heart goes out to Andy's family, Michelle and the girls, and to the whole family as well. I can't even begin to imagine the feeling of loss, but we know we serve a Lord that loves and cares for us through life's amazing times and tragic times. I was honored to know Andy all during our college years together at Trinity and he was always a very kind, generous and friendly person. He had a great sense of humor as well. I do not know the Rusticus family personally but I would like to say that I pray the Lord will give the family His grace and comfort. My father just passed away suddenly in the same way a month ago. But God has comforted my family and I in such ways that we could never imagine. I pray He will do the same for you. The Lord planned this and His Plan is the Only Plan. Lam. 3:31 "For the Lord will not cast off for ever: But though He cause grief, yet will He have compassion according to the multitude of His mercies." Ps.46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

As time goes on the Rusticus family is still in our prayers. Andy is missed greatly but is truly enjoying heaven right now. He was a great guy with a great wife and awesome family. I hope I can be even half the person Andy was.

Rusticus Family:
 It was a great shock to hear of Andy's passing. As a graduate of Trinity in 2003 and a fellow police officer my heart goes out. It took great courage to hear God's call to enter into law enforcement. A career path that is not looked at as a first choice in many Christian circles. The community has lost a great leader and steward of God's message. His legacy will not be forgotten!

 Below is a prayer written by Officer Thomas Guthery of Minnesota:
 Law Enforcement Memorial Prayer Dear Lord, law enforcement is not an easy task to do, Yet, there are many who choose to wear the shield. They serve each day, to the oaths they swore are true, Protecting and serving, a safer, better world to build. Lord now we gather to pay our deepest honor, To those of ours officers, killed in the line of duty. It matters not the style of shield they wore, Only that they served with pride, and honor. Lord all that matters is that they were one of us, Serving wherever needed, richest mansion to dirtiest alley. Confident and proud, highly honored by the peoples trust, So they carried a shield, mindful of all their sacred duties. Lord you have called several of ours home to glory, The race with life for them is now done. Peace, blessed peace, in safety, forever now with Thee, Welcome rest, now in heaven for all of eternity.
