Barbara was born on August 4, 1936, to Walter J. Krystiniak Sr. and Annetta "Nettie" (Seamon) Krystiniak. She attended St. Peter and Paul's Elementary School and graduated from Godwin Heights High School (Wyoming, MI) in 1954.
She worked for Universal CIT in Grand Rapids prior to marrying Robert Lowell Wood in 1961.
Barbara and her husband, Robert, built a home in Jenison, Michigan, in 1966, where they became founding members of Holy Redeemer Catholic Parish in 1975. She embraced this very church and enjoyed serving the community. As a wonderful cook, a thoughtful and generous gift-giver, she also loved hosting and entertaining others; it was her specialty. She was always nurturing to not only her two boys, but also the three children Robert brought to the family. Barbara also loved to travel, spending many winters down in Florida in her later years where she enjoyed swimming, shuffleboard, and playing bingo. As an avid sports fan, her favorite sport was baseball, attending many Detroit Tigers games with her grandson, Vincent. Nevertheless, she also enjoyed watching football, basketball, and hockey games on television with her family, supporting all the Detroit and Michigan teams!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wood; son, Craig Alan Wood; grandparents; father; mother; several aunts; uncles; and cousins.
Barbara is survived by her son, Christopher Jon Wood, and his wife, Metta; brother, Walter Krystiniak Jr. and his wife Marge; as well as step-children Susan (Donald) Granner, Robert James Wood, and Douglas (Mary) Wood. Also left behind are grandchildren Vincent Wood, Gabrielle Wood, Todd Harr, Jason Harr, Amy Stroud, Janice Bosscher, Eric Wood, Brandy Wood, Amber Johnson, and Shelby Wood. She is also remembered by nieces Wendy (Jerry) Winkler, Lori (Mike) Reitsma; and all of their children and grandchildren.
