Bertha "Mae" Smith

Bertha “Mae” Smith, age 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 17, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Albert Smith Sr.; son-in-law, Pat Doerr; grandson, Tyler Smith; and granddaughter, Sarah Gilcher. She is survived by her children Albert (Kris) Smith Jr., Jim (Pene) Smith, Mike (Chris) Smith, Sue Doerr, Betty (Phil) Hunt, Carl (Lynne) Smith, and Scott (Karen) Smith; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Jackie Oudbier; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

You can’t think of Mae without remembering her love for children, including the 75 foster children, exchange students, and many others she welcomed into her home. She enjoyed hand work, travel, gardening, and volunteering at many local organizations.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Fellowship Reformed Church, 6610 36th St., Hudsonville, MI 49426. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2019 at Fellowship Reformed Church, with visitation at the church prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fellowship Reformed Youth Ministries.
