I have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Betty and the great times we shared at my mom & dads house. She held a very special place in my heart and also in the hearts of Josh and Jacee. I know she is having such a joyous reunion right now. She will be deeply missed!

To the Paauwe family, My friendship with your mother goes back a little over 40 years and I'm so thankful that God allowed our lives to touch when we both lived on Marshall St.. She was such a special lady in so many ways and I will always cherish the memories of her that I have in my heart. We shared fun times, prayer times, sad times and doughnut and coffee times over at Van's bakery. We'll only be apart for a while and then we'll all be together again when we get to Heaven. What a wonderful lady. 'Mom' has always and will be an inspiration of kindness happiness and generosity to me. I loved growing up with her at the Marshall house. She was a great, soft spoken matriarch of a gifted close family that I will always cherish.

We have lost a wonderful Aunt and friend, but more importanatly a loving and caring human being. The family reunions and gatherings shall always be treasured with Betty, Margaret, Fred and Sister Bea carrying forward the legacy of Grandma and Grandpa Korb. I shall always remember Betty's engaging smile and genuine kindness. She was always interested in everything you were doing and made you feel so important and special. I know that there is rejoicing in Heaven today as Betty joins her mother and father along with daughter Mary and sister Margaret and Corvin and Gene. What a party that is going to be.I can see Betty and Gene hamming it up big time. Someday we will all join them once again in what will be one "Heck" of a Korb / Paauwe and Onstott reunion. Sooo Many Fond Memories. I soon learned as an adult to think of my Aunt Betty as my "Funzie Aunt"......she was so full of vim & vigor, and she knew how to have fun with the kids - after all, at heart, she was always one herself. Her eyes twinkled every time she smiled and laughed during both the fun times and hard times that life brings. During those times, between smiles, she would exclaim "Praise The Lord!" As her nephew, the great times we had together during my visits are way too many to list. I could tell she really loved me when she hung my picture on her breezeway 'wall of notoriety'.....I hung right between Jimmy Stewart and the Pope. Cool! During my visits, just the two of us used to have our little coffee/tea parties in her backyard using her 'tiny tea' cups and butterfly dishes. We loved toasting to each other as we lifted our tiny cups with our little pinkie finger. What a kick! Simultaneously in her other hand she'd periodically wave her miniature U.S. Flag. Then of course, just like the changing of the guards, there was changing of the coffee flavor - every 3 hrs or so Betty would brew an entirely new type & flavor of coffee. She did that 4 times a day whenever I was there. Our last pot change was early evening. She would exclaim "variety is the spice of life." When I would ask Grandma Korb about earlier years, she would refer to Betty as "the gypsy" of the family....trusting every stranger she met. This caused Grandma & Grandpa to worry at times. She said that Betty always would just say "God Provides..He'll Take Care Of Me." Grandma & Grandpa Korb have no more worries now, as she is laughing with that twinkle in her eye as Jesus holds her in his arms and she whispers in His ear "Praise The Lord."

To Cecelia, Vince, Tom, Joe, and Jim. I am sorry I didn't learn of your Mom's passing until after the service. I don't take a newspaper, and only learned of Betty's passing Wednesday, from a friend that saw Betty's obituary. Betty was such a great lady! I first knew of her when she was the church organist at my St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, many years ago. My mom, Elinor Lauff, became legally blind in 1974, at age 44, from macular degeneration and a rare eye disease called PXE. Betty and her friend, Janet Bertolin comforted my Mom, and drove her to doctor appointments, to buy groceries, and took Elinor to Teen Challenge meetings, when I was unable to, due to being away, married, with children. I worked briefly with Jim , at Lafayette Radio Electronics, and had some musical dealings with Vince in music groups. Betty and Janet were great friends and always talked to my Mom about the Lord. Betty was always kind to me, and went out of her way to help my blind Mom. I will never forget that. I will try to relay to Elinor that her friend, Betty, is now in Heaven, but Elinor is two months older than Betty, and is currently in poor health at Michigan Christian Homes now called Beacon Hill next door to where Metro Hospital used to be, on Boston SE, just East of Plymouth, in Room 30. Elinor is now VERY blind, very hard of hearing, and is in advanced stages of COPD, heart trouble and Alzheimers. I am currently in the process of liquidating all Elinor's belongings, along with her home in Kentwood. If I come across any photos of Betty, I can download them to you. My condolences to the entire family, I would have definitely attended the funeral, had I known about it in time.
