Bucky Love, 94, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 after a brief illness.
Bucky was born in Cleveland, OH on 7/24/22, the daughter of Michael and Irma Telich. She grew up in Euclid, OH and graduated from Shore High School in 1940. She attended Miami University in Oxford, OH where she met Robert (Bob) Love, her future husband. They were married on Halloween, 1942, and after Bob returned from service in WWII, they lived in Oxford until Bob completed his business degree in 1948. Their first son, Jeff, was born in 1946 and Greg was born in 1949. Bucky, Bob, and “the boys” moved from Euclid to Wyoming, MI in 1952. Bucky became very involved in the South Methodist and Grand Rapids Symphonic Choir(s). She was a kindergarten teacher in Godwin Heights, Townline, and Byron Center schools. She was on the Godwin Heights Board of Education in the late ‘50s- mid ‘60’s. Her proudest achievement was leading the successful millage campaign to build the state-of-the-art Physical Education Building, one of the finest facilities in the country at that time.
Bucky continued to be active in the music community throughout her life. She was very active in her beloved Sigma Kappa sorority. She was a strong advocate for public broadcasting (WGVU) and was honored many times by groups for her service in the music, arts, and charity communities. She was a cancer survivor and a proud supporter of Gilda’s House. Bucky traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Central/South Americas, and China. Many of these travels took place with Bob, before his passing in 1987. Bucky loved a good party, meal, conversation, joke, or argument. She respected almost everyone and feared no one. She was never afraid to express her opinion. She lived life to the fullest and provided a great example to those of us who knew her. She will be missed by many friends and, especially, her family. The family wishes to thank the care-givers at First and Main.
Bucky was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, John Telich. She is survived by sons Jeff (Mary) Love and Greg (Barb) Love.
