

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Alice (Frieswyk) DeVree Jr.; brother, Robert DeVree; and sister Charlene Alward. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn (Glupker) DeVree; son, Jeffrey (Janis) DeVree of Grandville, MI; daughter, Susan (Brian) Kane of Fennville, MI; granddaughter, Jennifer DeVree of Milwaukee, WI; and grandson, Jonathan DeVree of Ann Arbor, MI. Other survivors include brothers Kenneth DeVree and George (Audrey) DeVree; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carl graduated from Hudsonville High School in 1946. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 45th Infantry during the Korean Conflict from January 1951 - November 1952. He graduated from Hope College in 1957. He worked in the trucking industry until retirement in 1994 and continued to work part time until 2013.
Carl and Marilyn enjoyed summers in Holland and Ludington and winters on Marco Island, FL. They were members of Zion Reformed Church in Grandville for years and First Reformed Church in Grandville for years after.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 4, at First Reformed Church, 3060 Wilson Ave SW, Grandville. Visitation with family will be at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
Donations in memory of Carl may be made to the DeVree Family Scholarship Fund at Hope College.
