Clinton Hop

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joanne; his children and their spouses Debra & Paul Carbone, Dean & Cheryl Hop, Darlene Hop, Douglas & Nancy Hop, Dale Hop, and Dawn & Scott Zwiers; his grandchildren and their families Amber & Mark Bolhuis, William (deceased), Paul Carbone, Ryan & Dawn Hop, Noah, Miles, and Lydia, Tara & Joseph Scholten, Ella, Ian, and Ezra, Kari & Andrew Koster, Hannah, Sara & Sean Mooney, Andrew & Sara Hop, Remi and Rhett, Suzy & Randy Dragstra, Michele & Velislav Ganev, Caleb Hop, Charity Hop, Joel Hop and Elizabeth Hop, Dylan Zwiers, and Hunter Zwiers; his brothers & sisters-in-law Robert & Norma Timmer, Gerrit & Pat Schut, and Mart & Sherry Timmer; and many nieces and nephews.

He grew up on a farm in Beaverdam, Michigan. He attended Holland Christian High School, Hope College, Calvin College and received his degree from Davenport College. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and when he returned home became a bulk plant manager for Gulf Oil Company. In 1960, he took a very daring step away from a regular paycheck each month and started Clinton Hop & Co., Inc., an accounting and financial management business. Although he started with zero accounts, he had a heart full of hustle. Through the many years the business continued to grow and he helped hundreds of clients manage their businesses. He never lost his love for helping people and upon retirement was involved with Love, Inc. in Hudsonville, teaching budget management skills for many years.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation; however, a memorial service will be held at Hillcrest Christian Reformed Church on February 8 at 11:00 a.m.
