D. Jack Holwerda

He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his children and grandchildren, Jack and Peg Holwerda Kelly and Scott Albini, Lucas and Rachel, Mike and Gale Holwerda Holly deceased, Tina, Michael, Andrew, Janyce and John Kersaan Julie, Jessica, John, Joy and Dale Heyboer Nate and Lindsey, Eric and Sara, Joshua, Laura, Joan and Ron Howard Ron, April, Tiffany, Scott and Renee Holwerda Alyssa, Trevor; three great-granddaughters Alexis, Jaida, Arianna, and a great-grandson due in May.

Surviving also is a sister, Elaine Helmus and brothers- and sisters-in-law Jerry Nancy Holwerda, Tom Carole Holwerda, Sid Liz Holwerda, Keith Bea Meinema; and many nieces and nephews.

In 1952, Jack joined the family business, Holwerda-Huizinga as an apprentice plumber. His compassion for the industry continued through the years until he retired from his own company, H & H Plumbing and Heating. His dedication to help shape the industry was evident when he twice served as president and held other officer positions in the Grand Rapids Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association, was on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Association, serving one term as president, and was a long-time member of the National Association of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors.

A time for relatives and friends to visit with Jack’s family will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7- 9 p.m. Wednesday at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW east building. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin St. in Jenison.
