David Lee Johnson, age 86, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Saturday, April 4, 2026. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Kathleen Johnson. He is survived by his children Amy Mead (Steven) of Wyoming, Jodi Porter of Wyoming, David Troy Johnson (Michael) of Lowell; grandchild Cameron Porter (Staci) of Hudsonville; great-grandchildren Cooper Porter and Zoey Porter; and sister, Linda Strait of Muskegon.
David enjoyed gardening, fishing, and playing his guitar. He was an avid fisherman and had many stories from his fishing adventures. He was involved in many church events and played guitar for the praise and worship team. As a huge Detroit sports fan, he always had a Tigers, Lions, or the Red Wings game on. He met the love of his life, Kathy, at the young age of 21 and they watched their family grow together. His family meant everything to him. His grandson and great-grandson brought him much joy and happiness.
David was an extraordinary individual, a devoted friend, father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, mentor, and teacher. He knew that he was going to join his wife and family in the afterlife, alongside his Savior and God. He was exceptionally kind, proud, and an inspiration to all, as he demonstrated kindness and respect towards everyone he encountered, even when faced with unkindness and hurt. His unwavering faith, family values, and friendships are a testament to his remarkable character, which was marked by kindness, respect, loyalty, and love. Those who had the pleasure of meeting him were blessed with his infectious laughter, humor, and quick wit. His writing and words had the power to transform, comfort, and inspire, much like a beacon of light in the darkest of times. His legacy, values, and teachings will forever be etched into our memories.
