Essie Pringle

Essie Pringle (Jabara), age 99 of Grandville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025 in Williamsburg, Michigan. Born May 19, 1925 to Lebanese parents Sam and Mymonie Jabara, she was the oldest of seven children and grew up and graduated high school in Mancelona, Michigan.

Essie worked in the family grocery stores during the Depression. In 1954, she moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan and worked at Michigan Bell and then later at Sears Roebuck where she met the love of her life, her husband, James Pringle. They married in 1962 and then moved to Grandville, Michigan, where in 1963 they had their only child, Diane. At that time they became part owners of Plymouth Tank Company in Grand Rapids. In their retirement years, they enjoyed their winter home in Tarpon Springs, Florida as well as their Grandville residence.

Essie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lifetime member of the Muskegon Yacht Club as well the Red Hat Society of Grandville, Michigan. She enjoyed traveling, sailing, camping, reading, music, and most of all spending time with family and friends. Essie had a passion and love for all people and getting to know them and their stories.

Essie is survived by her daughter, Diane (Kevin) Krenn; granddaughters Erica (Chris) Gard, Kara (Ben) Wood, and Kayla Krenn; as well as six great-grandchildren; and sibling, Abdeen Jabara. Essie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Pringle and her siblings Frieda Rice, Selma Hegazi, Kal Jabara, Jim Jabara, and Nayfe Jabara.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the wonderful care and compassion that Bayside Hospice of Traverse City, Michigan and Autumn House showed to Essie until her final breath.

At Essie’s request, there will be no formal service. A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their guestbook online.
