
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Elaine Van Sweden; his children, Ronald Diane Van Wieren and their children, Nathan and Erin of Byron Center, Steven Sharon Van Wieren and their children, Mark and Megan of Grandville; sisters, Ruth Rev. Leon Dykstra of Jenison, Elsie Lawrence Maas of Jenison; his Aunt Elli Hahne of Grand Rapids; brother-in-law Jay Verna Van Sweden of Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Van Wieren was an elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher at Beverly Reformed Church. He served as a Gideon and was on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Housing Board of Appeals for the City of Wyoming. He also served our country during WWII in the European theater.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday from Beverly Reformed Church, 2141 Porter SW, in Wyoming, with Rev. Eildert Zwart and Rev. Leon Dykstra officiating.
The family will meet with relatives and friends Saturday 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home west building 4235 Prairie St. SW, in Grandville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon’s International. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
