Francis Robert Jacobs

JACOBS Mr. Francis Robert "Boba?? Jacobs, age 82, of Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Bob was born to Francis and Dorothy (Sharphorn) Jacobs on April 28, 1929. Bob grew up in Los Angeles, attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids and the University of Southern California. He married Jean Austin of Wyoming Park in 1950. Bob proudly served his country with the US Marine Corps during WWII and the Korean Conflict.

Bob and Jean raised their family in Los Angeles where he was employed as an accountant and bank vice-president /treasurer. Bob will be remembered as a loving husband and father and for his strong faith and service to his church , as an elder, participating in a mission trip, and working hard to coordinate the Scholarship Fund of Newhall Community Church. Bob loved the outdoors, spending time at his cabin in the San Bernardino Mountains of California, fishing and golfing, feeding the birds and tending his flowers and yard.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Jean; children, Carlton Rexford (Maria) Jacobs, Carol Jean (Robert) Vernay, Christine Marie Jacobs-Ikehara, and Cathleen Roberta (Marlin) Tures; grandchildren, Mary (Ryan) Radford, Robyn Jacobs, Michael (Corissa) Stevens, Brandy (Chad) Henson, Bryan Vernay, Isabelle (Bill) Selak, Carlton Penaloza, Daniel Penaloza, Jessica (Jud) Cameron, and Jennifer Tures; great-granddaughters, Olive, Wynter, Willow and Riley; sister, Carol Illias; and brother-in-law, James (Lola) Austin. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathryn Wassink.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, 7 PM at his church, Newhall Community, 3746 Byron Center, Ave SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Tom Bos and Dr. Dan Kroeze officiating. Interment will be Friday at Rosedale Memorial Park with Military Honors under the auspices of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard. Relatives and friends may meet Bob's family Thursday from 6 PM until the time of his services at church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bob can be made to Newhall Community Church Scholarship Fund.
