Gary was born and raised a true Michigander, having lived the entirety of his life in Grand Rapids. He was a 1969 graduate of Ottawa Hills High School and spent a majority of his working career at the General Motors 36th St. plant as a hi-lo driver for over 30 years. Gary enjoyed riding around town in his 1971 LT1 Stingray Corvette on warm summer days, woodworking and completing carpentry projects, fishing, gardening, and a good home-cooked meal. Gary was known for his kind and slightly corny sense of humor and loved spending time with his family and friends.
A celebration of Gary’s life will take place at a later date and time. In honor of Gary and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Hospice, Easterseals, or a charity of your choice in his name. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresgrandville.com in their online guestbook.
