Gary Jerome Zdun

Gary Jerome Zdun, age 81, went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 23, 2022. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Eugenia Zdun; his parents by marriage Walter and Eileen Wetzel; and brother-in-law, Jerry Wetzel. He will be remembered by his wife, Carol (Wetzel) Zdun; children Kimberly (Peter) Piatek and Thomas (Stephanie) Zdun; grandchildren Sydney and Samuel Piatek and Marlee, Owen, and Jackson Zdun; sister, Darlene (Bill) Pendell; sister-in-law, Becky Wetzel; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gary was born in Detroit and moved to Jenison, Michigan in the 1960s. Gary worked as a salesman for the Grand Rapids Press for 42 years. His focus in life was his family and loving his wife for 58 years of marriage. Gary’s activities included supporting his children and his grandchildren in every sport they played. He embraced his 37 years of sobriety and encouraged others to take steps toward their own 12 steps in sobriety. He leaves a legacy of caring and kindness, along with a humorous perspective on life. Gary’s wishes would be for his family and friends to carry on his legacy and remember the fond memories they shared with him.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Holy Redeemer Parish, 2700 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428. Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. prior to the Mass. Father Colin Mulhall will be officiating.
