
BOORSMA - Mrs. Harmina 'Mieke' J. Boorsma, age 64 of Byron Center, surrounded by her family, lost her courageous battle with cancer Thursday, July 13, 2000. She was preceded in death by her father Otto Ytsma; in-laws, Luitzen, Ceeli Boorsma of the Netherlands. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Johan; her children, Ed and Patricia Wesseldyk of Hudsonville, Keith and Ingrid Callaghan of Kentwood; her precious grandchildren, Kylee, Tyler Wesseldyk; Riley, Dylan Callaghan; her mother Anna Ytsma of Kentwood; one brother Ben Ytsma of St. Louis, MO; one sister Betty and Larry Fischer of Hudsonville; sister-in-law Lile Boorsma of the Netherlands and several aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and many special friends. Mieke was retired from the Godwin School System where she was a teacher's aide for many years at West Godwin Elementary School where she loved working with children. Her patience and compassion was an inspiration to all who worked with her and to all who knew her, she will be greatly missed.
Memorial Service will be held Sunday 1:00 p.m. from Newhall Reformed Church 3746 Byron Center Ave. SW with Pastor Clayton K. Smith III officiating.
