Harold Smith

SMITH -Harold J. Smith began his heavenly walk with Jesus on Saturday, May 3, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer. He was greeted by his loving Lord and Savior whom he served for many years. Harold was born July 8, 1927, the fifth of six children. In 1954 he married Laurie Smith and they had two children, Michael (Lisa) Smith and Beth (Harry) Koops. Two grandchildren and their spouses were also a big part of his life: Lindsey and Dennis Jeng and Paul and Laura Smith and their daughter Keira.

Harold was a Certified Public Accountant, he enjoyed golfing with his friends, served on many mission boards, was active in his church homes, and volunteered his time wherever he could be a help.

He is survived by his wife and children along with his siblings: Ralph (Viola) Smith, Francis Driesens, Roger (Eva) Smith along with many nieces and nephews. The family will meet relatives and friends on Monday, May 5th, from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Cook Funeral Home, Grandville (West building), 4235 Prairie St. SW. A celebration of Harold's life will be held on Tuesday, May 6th at 11:00 am at Byron Center Bible Church at 8855 Byron Center Ave. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcares.com. Memorial contributions may be made to either Byron Center Bible Church or Faith Hospice.
