To the Family of Mr. Henry Johnson:
 ItA's a sad fact that we seldom get or take an opportunity to tell people how important they were in our lives until itA's too late. I just learned of Mr. JohnsonA's passing and would like to express my condolences with a brief reminiscence. 
 When I think of Mr. Johnson itA's always with pleasure because he was such a positive influence during my high school years. Although I was the only male in my typing class, Mr. Johnson didnA't think there was anything weird about it at all. He was always very encouraging and inspired me to achieve 55wpm, which I thought was a pretty big deal, faster than most of the girls. The typing proficiency proved invaluable in college and throughout my career as a freelance writer. In fact, I think it was a big factor in why I started writing: I really enjoyed typing. Mr. Johnson also encouraged me to write my first articles for The Buzzer, the school newspaper.
 Mr. Johnson was also, unconsciously for me at the time, at wonderful male role model. Although most small town American males in the 50s aspired to be like John Wayne or Lee Marvin, Mr. Johnson wasnA't like that at all. He was cool, graceful, and a terrific dresser. He was patient, kind, witty, and calm. I didnA't know who Fred Astaire was at the time, but when I discovered him, he reminded me of Mr. Johnson. 
 My parents ran a small restaurant in Hudsonville, EdA's Grille & Soda Bar, where Mr. Johnson used to come every day for lunch. After I left home they would keep me up to date on him. They told me when he became an administrator and when he retired. They also liked him and appreciated his long patronage. 
 Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of Mr. Johnson.

Sally, I was sad to hear about the loss of your Dad. I know that he was a special man and that you will miss him very much.
