Jack K. Mccarthy

MC CARTHY - Mr. Jack K. McCarthy Sr. passed away Friday, December 17, 1999 at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Rev. Robert D. McCarthy. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 46 years Esther; sons, Jack and Sherry McCarthy, Jerry and Lori McCarthy, Jim and Rhonda McCarthy; six grandchildren, Jamie, Joshua, Brittany, Jim, Ben and Timmy; his sister Mary McCarthy of San Luis Obisbo, CA; and many other special relatives and friends. Jack was born in Comstock Park, MI on May 12, 1915. He worked several jobs at Ramona Park while attending and playing football at East Grand Rapids High School. He worked 50 years for W.S. Butterfield Theatres, Inc. During his career he managed the Regent, Keith's, Kent, Center, Majestic and Eastbrook Theatres. He was named 'Showman of the Year' twice by the National Association of Theater Owners. He also taught his three sons the theatre business. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish in Jenison. The Mass of Christian Burial will be said 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hoy Redeemer Catholic Church with Fr. Denis Nash celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Jenison Chapel of Cook Funeral Home, 1889 Baldwin, and one hour prior to the service at the church, with a Vigil Service 7:30 p.m. Monday.
