I am Andy Davis' mom--so I have lots of memories of the boys during those rough high school years when we parents were tearing our hair out.
 I remember having an argument with Andy in James' presence--and James yelled at me. I was of course shocked and angry--but in retrospect, I should have listened to him.
 I haven't seen James for about five years. He and Andy came out to a Horizons High School art Show downtown on Weston street. It was a rainy night. It was when he and Andy shared an apartment on Cherry Street. After the show we went through the Burger King drive through on Lake Michigan Dr. My daughter Caitlin remembers--she was 7 or 8. She told me yesterday, "I liked James. I remember eating whoppers with him in the backseat. He was fun."
 I am so sad for you all. James should have had many more years to enjoy and get to know his little boy. 
 You all are in my thoughts.

 You are in my thoughts and prayers. I knew James mostly through the stories Paul told. It was always obvious that his love for James and all his kids has never wavered and runs very deep. May God comfort each of you.

I remember James as a very energetic and caring friend. I and many more will charish his memory. He had a spirit like no other...god bless.

Paul, Julie, and family.. you have been a second family to me for many years, james was one of my oldest friends in grand rapids. i have looked forward to every Christmas eve. James and i turned it in to a yearly ritual. we would hit every dollar store and the plaza international. we would have so much fun shopping for those gifts. we would always try to find something that would cause chaos. we would go out to dinner and catch a movie. we did this for eight years in a row. spending Christmas with James and the family are some of the best memories i have. My heart truly goes out to you all.

Julie,Paul and family...We are so saddened to read of your son's death in the Press..Though I haven't seen you for years, our hearts go out to you at this time. It sounds like your son was very well loved and will be missed greatly. We pray that God gives you his grace and peace that passeth all understanding. James, I miss you so much. I feel your spirit around me at times and I wish I felt it even more. Thank you for looking out for me. I will never forget you. I wish I could just pick up the phone and call you or go meet your for a cup of coffee. I still can't believe you're gone. So many memories. They will live in my heart forever.
