

VELDHOUSE JANICE CLAIRE (NIEWIEK) – Janice C. Veldhouse, age 73 of Byron Center, loving wife, mother and grandmother passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 25, 2016 after a 5 month courageous battle with multiple illnesses at Butterworth Hospital.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years and their five children, Vicki and Randy Schild of Byron Center, Valerie Hankiewicz of Grand Rapids, Vincent Scott who entered into Jesus arms at the very young age of 2 years in 1972, Travis and Beth Veldhouse of Byron Center, Trent and Laura Veldhouse of Dorr, nine grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Kay Wormley of Florida, Lorraine Swainston of Wyoming, Tom and Mary Niewiek of Cutlerville and Juanita Cole of Shelbyville. Also surviving are Ron’s family, Lois and Butch Potter of Byron Center and Neva and Harvey Warsen of Grandville. She leaves behind her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Niewiek, Sr., her mother, Eileen Perrin Spaans, sister JoAnn Platz, and brother Joseph Niewiek Jr.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 at Woodhaven Reformed Church at 68th Street and Wilson Ave., Byron Center, Michigan. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Byron Center Chapel of Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St., SW.
Memorial contributions may be made to Woodhaven Reformed Church’s Educational Fund where Jan was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Butterworth Hospital who cared for Jan so lovingly during the past 5 months.
