Lit a candle in memory of John A. Bandstra

I remember so well how you helped us settle in GR when I went to seminary and became our MI family and had us at your home so often. I also remember the temporary job he got me as a carpenter's helper between seminary graduation and my first church.  So many good friendship memories -- Larry Baar

Ardy our deepest condolences to you and your family.  It was always nice talking with John at Church.  He always enjoyed that last cookie as we were putting them away.  His presence has been missed these last few months.                 Sondra and Karen Kehrwecker

Ardy-I have so many memories of John as a WA.  And I especially remember all our joy at hearing the music of the Collingworth's at WA  And, guess what! I was able to praise God as I listened to them here in IA Sat. night (Cedar Falls).  And as we grieve the physical absence of John, we can only imagine his joy now in singing with the angels.  I am grieving along with you & your family, bur rejoycing for John.

Lynn and Gary, our hearts were touched as we read of Lynn's dad's passing.  But we rejoice knowing his work on earth was completed and he now stands in the presence of the One he loved and served so well. Rev. Marie and I got to know John and Ardy through volunteering with them in the winter season for Wycliffe Bible Translators and Wycliffe Associates in Orlando for almost ten years. Theirs seemed to be an excellent match; their love and affection for one another and their mutual commitment to modeling Christ became evident to us immediately. As John’s decline began, Ardy moved into her greater role of loving care and management with grace and courage. 
It is never easy to lose a spouse/parent/grandparent and/or dear friend. But John enjoyed a full span of years, a lifelong marriage at the head of a big family, and he both performed and enabled the work of spreading God’s kingdom on earth, which is Job One for followers of The Way. 
Well done, John. God’s comfort and richest blessings on you, Ardy, on your extended family, and on all who mourn his passing. 
The Grand Reunion is coming.

I will forever remember your Dad's cheerfulness in changing my flat tire on Christmas Eve in about 1973. Sympathy to your sweet Mom and to all of you and your children as you miss your dear husband, Dad, and Grandpa.

I have many fond memories of John. My husband and John were partners in business. We did many things together camping with our children and traveled together. John was a great bowler. A team consisting of John, his father Paul, brother Don, my husband Herm and a friend. They won many trophies. They also had a great baseball team.  May the Lord comfort you and your family.

Very sorry for your loss, Doug & Karla and the rest of the family.  I loved your dad - he was such a great guy and so nice to all of us kids when we would hang out at your house (maybe too often).  May you feel God's peace during this difficult time.
