He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Henrietta Plum; his stepmother, Gertrude Plum; and brothers Joseph Plum, Raymond Plum, and Peter Kerkstra.
John is survived by his wife L. Jean Plum of 48 years; stepchildren; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nephew, William Plum; and two great-nephews of Illinois.
John had spent a life career in the Armed Forces, serving from 1949 to 1972.
John loved the outdoors and traveling. He will be greatly missed.
