John Johan Visser

He was preceded in death by his brother Harry Visser.

He will be sadly missed by his son Robert Visser; his daughter Sharon John Doris; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Julie, and Ben Visser and Paige and Taylor Des Jardins; his foster children, Loc Huynh and Yen Huynh; his brothers, Chuck Willy Visser of Sylmar, CA, Jake Bea Visser of Holland, and Ron Judy Visser of Zeeland; his sisters-in-law, Elly Butler of Zeeland and Donna Visser of Mesa, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

Johan was born in Haarlem, the Netherlands. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1953. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 thru 1957. In 1978, he purchased Triangle Window Fashions and was still active in the company at the time of his death. He was a mentor and friend to most everyone he met. Johan enjoyed life and most of all he enjoyed people, young and old. He had a gift for communicating and never labeled anyone a stranger. As an avid athlete, he was a 10 times “Ironman” finisher who competed all over the world. Competition was indeed his passion. He brought a special spirit to the world that no one will forget. He touched numerous lives that were invariably changed for the better and he will be missed a great deal.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St SW -east building, with Rev. Sierd Woudstra officiating.

The family will meet with relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Grandville west building.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hope On The Hill Foundation/Johan’s TriFest to benefit Cancer Research through the VanAndel Institute 333 Bostwick NE - Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
