

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Marjorie Zandstra Sommers, after 63 years of marriage.
He will be sadly missed by his children, David Dorothy Zandstra, Sandra Joseph Einig, Crystal Vern Umstead, Michael Diane Zandstra, Randall Sherry Zandstra; his 12 grandchildren; his 13 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Martha Zandstra, Patricia Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
John served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Grinder during the Battle of Okinawa. He was a truck driver for Postma Gravel and Grand Rapids Gravel for 31 years.
The family would like to thank Kathy, Gayle, Lee and all of Faith Hospice for their care.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Cook Funeral Home in Byron Center, 2067 84th St. SW. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Cook Funeral Home.
