Joyce Eileen Batts

Joyce (nee MacDonald) Batts, age 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior while surrounded by her family on August 25, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Vivian MacDonald and her siblings Arthur (Mattie) MacDonald, James MacDonald, Carol Ann MacDonald.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Herk Batts; her children Lori (Jeff) McPeck, Sheri Batts, John (Kandi) Batts, Mark (Thuy) Batts; grandchildren Jeremiah McPeck, Lucas (Jenna) McPeck, Emmaleah (Collin) McCullick, Joshua (Chloe) Burke, Samuel Batts, Noah Batts, Joey Batts, Eli Batts, Isaiah Batts, Benjamin Batts, Isabelle Batts, Abigail Batts; great-grandchildren Erdrick Burke and Eden McPeck; sister-in-law, Charlene MacDonald; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Joyce worked for over 30 years at Jenison Public Schools. Her roles included being a secretary at Sandy Hill Elementary and administrative assistant to the superintendent. One of her utmost passions was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known to make baked goods for her family and many others. She also enjoyed camping, traveling, knitting, and sewing. She served in her home church of Resurrection Life, volunteering in the nursery and pre-school programs. She loved Jesus and served others.

Visitation with the family will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2020 at son, Mark’s, residence, 3691 Carlton Park Dr., Grandville, MI 49418. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Banner of Christ Church, 1111 68th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 10 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
