Joyce P. Ostema

Joyce P. Ostema, age 81, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus Saturday, June 18, 2016. Joyce was born October 26, 1934 in Grand Rapids to Henry and Dorothy (Colby) Slagter. She was preceded in death by both parents; her two daughters, Darlene, and Edna; her brother, Robert Slagter; and her sister-in-law, Angie Slagter.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 62 years, Paul Ostema; children, Ruth (Dan) Helms, Shirley (William) Broderick, William (Cathy) Ostema, James Ostema, Thomas (Marcia) Ostema, Doris (James) Bantjes, Michael (Michelle) Ostema, Daniel (Tammi) Ostema, Janice (Joe) Kooienga, and Ronald (Stephanie) Ostema; 34 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Melvin Slagter, Richard (Pat) Slagter, Gail (Ken) Postma, Mary Lou (Jerry) TenElshof, Ellen (Marty) Jones, Paul (MaryJo) Slagter, Lola (Tom) Iacovoni, Leon (Sandy) Slagter, Tim (Krista) Slagter, and Sue (Curt) Hellem.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the Cook Memorial Chapel (east building), 4235 Prairie SW, Grandville, with Pastor Bruce Osbeck officiating. Relatives and friends may meet her family Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Cook Memorial Chapel.
