Lee was a quiet, loyal man who let his actions speak louder than words, and whose dedication to family shaped every chapter of his life.
Lee graduated from Hudsonville High School and married his lifelong love, Cindy, in 1977. They started their family soon after, building a family that always remained at the core of everything he did. Lee worked at General Motors for 28 years. There he completed an apprenticeship and earned recognition as a skilled tool and die maker. He worked many long hours to ensure his family was well cared for.
For those who knew Lee, knew he was a man of few words, not because he had nothing to say, but because he found greater wisdom in listening. He had a caring heart and was quick to step in when anyone needed help. Whether tinkering in the barn, tending to his yard, or heading to Silver Lake to enjoy the dunes, Lee never stayed still. He also enjoyed attending tractor pulls and was a proud member of the Moose Lodge in Sparta.
Lee enjoyed traveling and was never in a hurry to get to the destination. He and Cindy made wonderful memories traveling to Alaska, Florida, and Boston. In his later years, nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his family and his dear friend, Marty Spraight.
Lee was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cynthia Spoolstra; parents Sierd and Virginia "Mae" Spoolstra; and brother, Kent Spoolstra. He is survived by his daughters Shannon (Mike) Robertson, and Stacy Spoolstra; granddaughters Michelle and Lauren Robertson; brothers and sisters Gwen (Jay) Klamer, Larry (Myra) Spoolstra, Carol (Mike) Spoolstra-Tesla, Gregg (Reta) Spoolstra, Jill (Keith) Leslie, and Jacqie Spoolstra; as well as many other friends and family who loved him dearly.
