Leonard Wayne Ritter, age 82, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Rachel Ritter. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 62 years, Nina-Gayle Ritter; daughters Leslie Ritter of Kentwood, Michigan and Pennie Drew of Cumming, Georgia; grandchildren, Isaac (Becky) Drew, Amanda (Eder) Diaz, Allison (Josh) Hebert, Arthur Drew; and ten great-grandchildren. He will also be remembered by his brother, Lester (Judy) Ritter.
Spending time with family and serving his country were very important to Len. As a young man, he proudly served his country as a sailor in the United States Navy. He was stationed on the island of Bermuda and served during the Cuban missile crisis. After leaving the military, Len worked in the manufacturing industry until he retired in 2001. He enjoyed playing the guitar and was very talented; he especially loved playing Johnny Cash songs. He was a big Detroit Lions and Tigers fan and he also loved old cars and model airplanes. When not working, traveling was something that he loved and he took his family to visit his wife’s family in Eastern Kentucky four times every year. He took up traveling around Michigan and camping after retirement. He always took time for his kids and grandkids…even when he was tired from working all day. He will be missed.
A private family service will be held. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
